Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre
The City of Toronto was fortunate enough to play host to the Pan Am Games in 2015, and in order to accommodate these series of competition the city had to build the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC). This centre is co-owned and maintained by the City of Toronto and The University of Toronto. Now that the games are over with, the centre is used for top-notch experiences in sport, exercise and recreation by the residents of Toronto.
Facility Location
The centre is located at 875 Morningside Avenue, and the facilities are open to the general public. For those who like to train early in the morning, the facility opens its doors at 5 am every morning, 365 days a year. What’s better is that it is open until midnight for those who prefer to exercise later in the evening.
The centre is accessible via 3 different routes on the TTC. You can also get to the TPASC from the 401 East or West via the Morningside Avenue exit and turning onto Tams Road when it intersects with Morningside Avenue. This road turns into the Pan Am Centre parking lot.
Facility Services
At the TPASC there are so m
any activities for everyone to participate in. From the facilities that were used for official Pan Am Games – like diving and swimming pools – to other recreational activities like rock climbing walls, there is something for everyone to do here. You and your friends can participate in a friendly pick up game of basketball in the gymnasium or get a satisfying run in on the indoor track during the winter, the TPASC is a gem in the City of Toronto for those who appreciate top notch training facilities.
Need something that isn’t exactly exercise based? You can also book one of the various meeting rooms for your business or social needs. They offer spaces where you can gather around a table to discuss your ideas, or have a presenter at the front of the room. They have conference facilities to accommodate all your meeting needs.
Morningside Athletic Fields
These fields were used during the 2015 Pan Am Games for the pentathlon event. Now, though, they are used for two soccer fields where local leagues play during the summer and fall months. These fields are adjacent to the centre itself and can be booked for your team’s practices, regular season games or even tournaments.
Facility Fitness Centre
There is a portion of the TPSAC that is set up as general fitness facility. Here you will find a cardio area complete with treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, step climbers and rowing machines. There is also a strength and conditioning area where you can work on building your muscles with lifting weights.
What’s unique about this centre is that for its members they offer online fitness classes for when you just can’t make it into the gym. These classes involve things you can do in your home, and don’t require extensive equipment.
This centre is a great facility within Toronto that gives its residents the option everyone to train at a professional centre. You can join the facility as a member, and benefit from all the activities included. Tams Road turns into Pan Am Drive, but the facility can also be accessed from the intersection of Military Trail and Morningside Drive.
